These are the full, expanded threads from the preserved GameFAQs threads. I had to exercise some wicked Perl voodoo to extract the actual text, bad HTML and all, from the archives provided by RockMFR 5 (and DistantSpring54), and patch up the code so it's valid. We couldn't preserve the links to the author name or message detail because they don't seem to work anymore.

TomatoMan: As for Pikmin 2, little news apart
from the confirmation that Nintendo are working on a sequel [hardly
surprising]. Miyamato is quoted as saying a sequel could be pulled
off in merely 6 months - which i DO believe, given how the main game
engine is already in place..

Forest of hope 490
I had a 10 and 20 by the
onion. I am planning to break 500 today.
I had no clue that
you guys where so old I am only 13.
Posted by TomatoMan - 9/20/2002 5:18:34 PM
13. Now I'm really depressed. Let's not
talk about age anymore. Jeesh.
I vaguely remember being 13,
an ice age or two ago. At least, I think I was 13 once.

Forest of Hope 531
i finally broke 500. All I
missed was the yellow 20 and the red 5. I also missed the blue 5. I
am surprised I did this since I was unable to break 500 forever. I
just changed my strat a bit and got 531. I also had a lot of time
left. I am going for the yellow 20 now.

does anyone know if there is going to be a pikmin 2? Maybe i will pick up the controller again and get some high scores(even though im still in the top 3 in some of the levels) =)
Posted by redpichead - 9/20/2002 9:26:52 PM
Oh by the way, snap, have you played monkey ball 2? Im sure u have, if so what level are you up to?
Posted by SuperStein - 9/21/2002 3:31:55 AM
Dang! Gotta play more Pikmin... cocoapuffs...
your my nemisis! You always take me down.. cept that I got 278
before you... lol.. well.. don't take this the wrong way! I like
some friendly competition.. as long as I don't
lose!
TomatoMan: If u graduated hs in 84.... you must have
been like 18 or sumthin then... so here we are.. 18 years later...
I'm guessing your in your mid-30'ies! Excellent I must say, I hope I
love games as much s you do when I get to that age!
On my
Forest of Hope gaming. I'm using a bit alteres version that Snap,
but I have the same time table as him. And yesterday I had 3 runs
where I was dead-on him or faster than him at the
mid-day-ringa-ding. But of course I HAD to screw up at the bear near
the 10'blue pellet on that ledge... dang. I threw a bomb t00tin
yellow to the dwarfs he made his noise.. like.. aiii. And that set
of my other bombers. Killed 30 of my precious Pikmin. argh! The 2
other times I missed with my bombing at the second pearl.. and
accidentally woke up the bearr there.. DOH!
My score is still
516! I need more practice, but I can't today.. Cuz I'm going to a
friend who JUST got his cube! About TIME! :P
BTW
coccoapuffs.. your on! Let's compete to that 569'er! I think we have
another competitor too, Nathan Ian Bowers! It's gonna be cool!
W0000t! Cheer 4 me! LOL
Ready.. set... GO GO GO!
Posted by SuperStein - 9/21/2002 1:58:55 PM
OH MY GOD!
Well....
No new record..
i'm just frustrated! I was faster than Snap at the last ringa-ding!
MUCH FASTER! So I clear evrythin and go to get the pearl and the two
last animals. Spotty Bulborb; painless killing, Bulbear; and fuc*ker
didn't drop his bomb... argh! Causeed my much aggrevation and
time... so I lost a few pikmin, but I killed it... I clear the rest
of the world and my score ends up with 510.... but the two last big
animals didn't come in, they were RIGHT next to the onions! darn!!
ARGH! I woulD have had a 530+... damn you Pikmin! DO AS I
WANT!
Posted by Ahlyis - 9/21/2002 9:33:45 PM
OK, this is extremely odd. To take a break from
FoH for a bit, I decided to see if I could do anything with my low
IS score without putting too much effort into it. First try, got
245. Pretty good I'm thinking. So I tried again...
IS -
264
That came totally out of the blue (and hooked me on
the level)! I've played probably 20 times since and the best I can
do is 258 (had three yellow 1 pellets on the way for another
264).
The point is, I have no idea what specific pattern I
used to get the 264. So I can't reproduce it and look for where I
can tweak it to go after the Flint Beetle as well.
I even
went so far as to figure out EXACTLY how many Pikmin you need to
clear out everything behind the box, not counting the Flint Beetle.
It comes out to 98 Pikmin to carry every pellet out from back there.
So then I went and figured out exactly which pellets from the front
area I should get in order to get at least 30 of each color Pikmin.
(I leave the yellow 5 on the ledge and the blue 5 on the ground by
the red onion). Getting all the rest from the onion area and the 3
10's on the stump yields 99 Pikmin. Add in the blue 1 that TomatoMan
showed us all how to get and you get 101 Pikmin. As long as the Frog
drops two different colored 5 pellets, you end up with a nice
33-33-34 distribution or very close to that.
My problem seems
to be two-fold. First, I need to optimize my initial growing and
picking pattern. Second, I need to stop screwing up behind the box
and wasting time. If I can get both of those under control, 264
should become fairly consistently attainable. Then I can try to work
in the Flint Beetle. :-)

Holy chicken excrement! Quote from
Nathan
Forest of Hope:
568
I decided to give the
level a last go this evening. Everything is as perfect as
gummy-bears (lmao)! But when I'm throwing yellows for the yellow 20
pellet a red pikmin slips into the water. When I realize it it's
already to late to start with a rescure operation with my blue ones.
So I go and clear the rest of the level to end up with second best.
The timer where at 7 when I was done.
TomatoMan: I'll guess
this run is the early one where I'm an inch from perfection, but
fumbles it and loses one single arse! Like you did on your IS
crusade, I'll probably have to do this level like 100 times until
I'll get it all right again. Well, I'm happy and depressed right
now, almost like the time a got a 298 on FT when one 1'pellet must
have gone to the wrong onion. But that time it was even worse,
because I discovered it when everything was safely in, and the timer
had just begun.
Well, I have a split second place on this
level now. Tomorrow I'll be hitting it hard for the 569. 3
perfect-oes is my goal right now!
Wish me luck.
BTW,
cocoapuffs, interesting indeed, if you go ahead and pass me now you
have won the race! I surely hope you won't see this message, because
by then you'll know that your lead is gone! I'm ahead of all!
Nathan, Ahlyis (which have gotten hooked on IS), cocoapuffs and
Grenade Gruzzler. But I'm tied second with topoftheclass, but I
haven't seen him here lately. I sure hope you guys will soon see a
third picture of my wonderful Phillips 14" TV! LOL
Posted by Ahlyis - 9/22/2002 5:20:01 PM
Well, I got another 264 and the lowest on my top
5 is 259 (yellow 5 was being sucked, but didn't count).
:-(
One of the scores is a 263 where I had a yellow 1 pellet
almost back. Woulda been a 265! I hit the Flint Beetle, but a pellet
must have gone back to the wrong onion.
A perfect run with my
pattern will only yield a 268. I can't find the time to take on the
Flint Beetle properly. I'm still struggling with finding enough time
to finish everything.
My pattern is VASTLY different from
TomatoMan's. I clear out the entire front area first before even
moving the box. I go get the stuff up by where the ship is in the
main game while the 3 10 pellets are heading to the onions. It
doesn't seem to matter. I've gotten one 264 that way and one getting
that area last. I think I'm gonna have to break down and watch
TomatoMan's video again and borrow at least part of his strategy.
:-(
Oh well, at least I did manage to get the 264 with my own
pattern, not borrowed from anyone.

There's always so much activity in this thread
over the weekend! (to be expected, I s'pose).
Oh well, to put
my belated two cents' worth on every shift in the topic so
far:
TomatoMan: Thanks for the encouragement (even though all
my subsequent enthusiasm was destroyed by the high-score posting
frenzy that followed). You're right: beating PBs is really what's
most enjoyable about this game, and at least I can take comfort in
the fact that I have not used a single walkthrough for my high
scores.
Age: er, well, much older than the whippersnappers,
but not the oldest I think, just entered the 30s very
recently.
DS update: during the 45 minutes of play I got in
over the weekend I tweaked my DS strategy to aim for all 3 pearls.
Second run I got 365 (only a little short of my best), so I plan to
smash 400 soon (maybe one day I'll even break 450 *drifts off to
quixotic daydream*).
Ahlyis: funny that you should say you've
never seen a phantom death on Puffstool, since I had one during the
aforementioned 365 run -- doh! that could have been
366!!!
Stein: well done on FoH (but remember -- keep away
from DS! ;) )
---
Please don't beat me!
Posted by TomatoMan - 9/23/2002 12:05:57 AM
Ahlyis: don't give me too much credit for "my"
strat on IS. 80% of it is really SnapDragon's. I did some
fine-tuning that I needed myself to have enough time to clear things
out, and there are a few points that I consider key that I had to
come up with on my own, but Snap did the basic ryhthm.
Also,
on many of the levels, I wonder how much deviation we could
realistically expect given the layouts and the time constraints. I'd
be pretty surprised if there were strategies that varied wildly when
it came to getting the very top scores.
The part of the IS
strat that I'm willing to take some credit for include:
- The
throwing of the blue 1 over the wall to the yellow mountain area
while clearing out the early set of 5s near the yellow onion (not
doing that would have spoiled my 278)
- The timing of the 10s
and the 9-blue-1-yellow pattern on the blue 10 coming down first,
picking the blues, and going to the box with around 25 blues and 1
yellow, to clear the yellow 1, knock down the flowers blue, and
fight the beetle with blues
- The collecting of the yellow 5
on the ledge BEFORE going up to the back area.
The rest is
really Snap's strategy, the same basic pattern.
I tried some
of Stein's suggestions for IS (like getting the blue 5 up where the
ship normally is during the 10's-run, and one or two others), but I
found they threw my ratios off in ways I couldn't compensate for.
Strange how some things just work for some people and some things
don't. :)
Last random observation: I understand peoples'
desires not to use other peoples' strats, or read the walkthroughs
or see the videos, before trying to get their scores; I myself have
yet to watch Rogue's 442 on FN or read the strats, hoping to bring
my scores up before I do, and I've watched Snap's 569 once, enough
to realize that he's much better at killing things than I am. :)
Oddly enough, though, when I first watched Snap's 273 on IS way back
when, I thought my scores would immediately leap up, but they really
didn't. Watching his 569 on FoH didn't help me either; my high of
509 remains and my efforts to use his strat were disastrous. I guess
this is just to say that watching the videos/using the strats
doesn't necessarily amount to instant conquering of the levels. You
still have to really understand things and do everything right.
There's plenty of skill involved in doing a perfect run even if
you're just following an "established" strat. It's probably sweeter
if you invent it yourself, but few of us can speak to that.
:)

And it has begun!
Something always goes
wrong now.
Example 1: Time, I'm too slow
Example 2:
Dwarfies, sometimes I lose on pikmin
Example 3: Phantom deaths at
spotty bulborbs and bulbears
I can go on forever, but argh
I'm still mad. I keep thinking, maybe my blue ones would have
managed to save the doomed little red one. It was like my first run
for 278 on Impact Site, I was just going to test it. But there I
managed, but here.... damn.... think I'll just go away and cry now.
I want the number 1. LOL!

new ft score. i got 260 (with my own strat).
blue 20 and red 10 were about to be sucked up as well. forgot about
black mini bulbear and two dead on bll and 5 yellow to wrong colour.
(put two yellow and three blue instead of other way round, realised
my mistake too late).
stopped using ahlyis technique for now
as i want to see if i can get a perfect with my own strategy.
thanx tm for your guide to IS and thanx to snap for it as
well (read tms post).

english people on this?
Posted by SuperStein - 9/23/2002 9:47:00 AM
Nope, but I'm at least european. Norway is my
home!
But that wasn't the meaning of this post!
This
and only this was the meaning of why I entered this faboulous board
yet again.
Some background.
Coming home from school I
realize I'm not in the mood for homework, yet. So I switch on my
purple cube to get me some pikmin action before I get back to real
life.
Try one;
LOL! Everything went wrong, so I ended up in
blowing all of my pikmin up in one big bang of 20 bombs :P
Try
two;
I manage to do everything a bit faster than usual. And by
god not one single pikmin fell into the water, stumbled into the
fires or were eaten by some creature with the munchies. I actually
end up with having my most perfect run ever! When I was going for
that last crucial yellow 20 pellet I take only the ones necessarry
(spellin?:P) to carry it. It all goes smoothly and the rest of the
run is easy-livin, beacause there was NOTHING left to kill me. I
take the blue 10 pellet and the last 3 1 pellets. I carefully set 2
of the right color to each one pellet, and walk them step by step to
the right onion (believe me, I've seen 2 blues carry a blue 1 pellet
to the yellow onion)!
I finish the whole thing just when the
countdown began!
Ahhh... perfection number 3.
And proof,
yes, I've thought of that
too:
http://ftp.home.no/mariokart/pics/forestofhope-569.jpg
Ahhh...
3 number one scores....
I have now enough energy to to any kind
of stupid pointless annoying homework!
Snap, you know when
the bell rings for the last time. You are then about to enter the
last area, with the box.
With my altered tactic the bell rung for
the last time when I was throwing blues at the box, to move
it.
So I was way faster than you (well, way is a strong
expression, a little we can say OK?). I had killed 3 dwarfies and
were carrying them home before you enteres the area. I'm so happy
with this, I can say I'm shaking of joy, yet again.
LOL.
Well, yes, it was that infernal homework I talked about,
yes. See you around board. And BTW, I think the Top 15's need an
update now, LOL... nothing to do with me entering the top of the FoH
list though... riiiiggghht!

Ahlyis: funny that you should say you've

Um, I don't think I ever said I'd
never seen any with Puffstool. Apologies if I did, because I have
seen them there.
My claim was that I've never seen them with
Dwarfs. Which I still haven't.

Forest of Hope - 538
First off,
I'd like to congratulate Stein on his 569. Amazing stuff. Excellent
and quick work by the Norwegian. Don't worry, kid. I'll be sharing
your glory this week.
It took me a while to work back into a
groove where I break 500 regularly. I had forgotten everything about
the level. But I now have devised the final strategy that I am
almost positive will give me 569.
I have never seen a video
of Forest of Hope. I have no objection to watching the work of
others and learning from that work (as long as credit is given).
After all, it is one thing knowing a good way to attack a level - it
is something else entirely having the skill to actually pull it off
yourself. Anyone who scores a 278 or 569 or 442 or 582 or 299 by
following an FAQ should be just as lauded as the person who
wrote the FAQ. But I am very harsh on myself and rather
prideful so I always cop that, "I don't need your help attitude."
Call me a video game purist or just a stubborn fool, but it is what
it is. I'm sure most of you know how I feel. If I ever get around to
taping these runs of mine (I'll have the VCR running for the rest of
my FoH endeavors) and somehow make them available online, there's a
good possibility that my strategies will be remarkably different
than those of others. That is my goal.
But I digress. On my
538 run in Forest of Hope five Pikmin were eaten. Would've been a
543. The only things I missed were in that area with the yellow 5 on
the ledge and the blue 5 in the water. I failed to
retrieve:
(1) The Spotty Bulborb
(2) The
two dwarf Bulbears
(3) The three yellow
1-pellets
My run was rather sloppy and I wasted a lot of time
with some of the details. It was the first run using my final strat
(at least I hope it's the final one). I'll fill everyone in
on the details of my strat once I find out if it can achieve
perfection. I'm almost positive it can.

thank you Nathan!
That gives me another
chance to thank SnapDragon, Ahlyis and TomatoMan for providing such
excellent strats. I have fine tuned on them all, but the soul of it
is yours.
I have now fine trimmed Rouge7's FN video, I've
written down EVERYTHING to do, how many Pikmin I have when I do it
and when the 1st, 2nd and 3rd bell rings are, and when the Hurry Up!
warning appears. I'll now be hitting that level hard. Hoping to set
a good record in time for the 4th of October, then it'll be sunshine
time :P
But fear not, I will always come back to Pikmin as long
as I haven't got 5 number 1 spots!

Superstein,, what size is your TV? It looks
pretty small, but that may just be the picture. Does anyone think
the size of their TV may influence their scores a bit?
I

It
would've been 420, too, if THAT STUPID #%$^@& FROG HADN'T
SQUASHED 35 PIKMIN!!! (sorry for shouting -- I'm just a little
frustrated about that).
The thing about strategy guides for
me is not that it's somehow less of an achievement if you follow a
guide -- I know that it's still very hard to get a perfect run even
if you are following a guide. It's more a case of I know that I
probably wouldn't be able to get a perfect even with a guide,
so my sense of achievement comes from seeing my scores improve on
account of my developing and tweaking my strategy.
And,
Stein, congrats once again.

hi Lewellyn, as you are english, do you buy CUBE
mag as i just sent my 278 IS run to the mag (ahylis- i never said
anything about using a strategy as i think cube being an english mag
and the name tomatoman will mean nothing to them and i think you
will agree 278 takes some doing anyway, sorry tomatoman if you
wanted me to give you the credit when i sent the vid) anyway the
score should be published 4 weeks on thursday so if you want to
check it out Lewellyn i would appreciate it.
anyway the main
reason i am posting is because i got 299 on FT with my own strat,
well 60% ahylis and 40% mine. i finished with 7 on the countdown as
well. i would like to prove it so you guys will have to tell me how
(i have no digital camera. but i should have access to a scanner
next week when i start uni so is it possible to scan in the photo
then email it to someone???
also rogue7, in your 422 guide,
you state that 442 is possible but would require a different
approach to the level. i just wondered how different the approach
was as you achieved 442.

Need more practice!
Posted by Rouge7 - 9/24/2002 8:32:26 AM
When I wrote the 422 guide I had not yet hit 442
on FN. My feeling at the time was that something very different was
needed for any higher. As I kept trying various methods, nothing
worked. At the end of my wits, I decided to see how long it took for
the red 20 in the BLL area to get back to see by what time I needed
to get it moving. I found that it wasn't too bad and figured if I
could just change a few things from the 422 to make it possible to
get it moving with 20-some guys and then add to 50 guys it could
have a chance. So I was wrong in that statement in the guide and
ended up using a similar strat to get 442. I was going to write it
up after the DVD came out, but seeing as the video is on the net, I
guess I should just submit it...

I've just got to say that I can't believe what
Stein has done - coming in and getting 3 perfect scores so quickly.
I'm going home today and I'll be reunited with my cube, and feel
like I might have to spend some more time trying to better my
scores. I don't know why I think I'll suddenly be able to do things
I haven't before, but I do feel like the bar has been
raised.
Mike - if you're conscious enough of using my "strat"
that you're apologizing to me for not mentioning it when you sent it
in, I'm not sure what to add... I guess all I can say is I would
have, but I'm not going to flip out over it. I copiously credit Snap
and the others on the board at the end of my vid, as you may have
seen. I do take a little pride in at least being the first known 278
(since I've got nothing else to be proud of :P), but I'll get over
it.
Right now I've got to get at least one more perfecto
somewhere, and it's starting to look like someone may have to beat
(and tape) Ferret's 582 on DS if we're ever going to get the DVD
done. I'm not saying that'll be me, but maybe I can goad some of my
betters into tackling it. (nudge, nudge)

(Ferret just posted his head back into the DVD
topic and said he'd get the tape out to me soon, so you can all
relax on that front. Woohoo!)

Cubetastic TomatoMan! If I had a DVD burner I
could have made some copies for the european market, but
alas.
And remember guys, how long have you had Pikmin, I
myself got it on the 14th of June! Release here in Europe!
I
really need to play more on FN to master it though!
Posted by Nathan Ian Bowers - 9/24/2002 10:04:55 AM
I'm probably going to be hated by most people on
this board for saying this, but I have to get it off my
chest.
Like I said before, I have no problem with viewing
someone else's run and learning from it. But copying down everything
and following the run exactly? That is not talent. It is
simple aping.
I really have always felt this way. But I have
tried, until now, to pretend that I have no qualms whatsoever about
the borrowing of strategies. I do have qualms, though. I cannot give
credit to someone who achieves his scores using this
practice:
I have now fine trimmed Rouge7's FN video, I've
written down EVERYTHING to do, how many Pikmin I have when I do it
and when the 1st, 2nd and 3rd bell rings are, and when the Hurry Up!
warning appears. I'll now be hitting that level
hard.
Sorry, Stein. You've hit home here. It took me a
long, long time to finally get to 442. It took a countless number of
strategies to find my final one, and the final strat went through
many revisions. I take a lot of pride in having achieved the score
without help from anyone. I'm sure Rouge7 feels the same. And now
you're going to take a shortcut to the top of the list by copying
Rouge's strat detail by detail? That's not cool. I cannot believe
that Rouge hasn't expressed frustration yet.
I know what's
going to happen. You will reply to me by saying, "well Rouge's video
is the core of my run but I tweaked it with little details of my
own." Please don't use this as your reply. You have even written
down the exact moments that the bells ring in Rouge's run. What
you're really doing is achieving scores for Rouge. When and
if you get to 442, it rightfully should not go on your memory card
in the #1 spot but rather on Rouge's card in the #2 spot.
I
was wondering how a new person could get so many high scores so
quickly. I had never even heard of Stein a couple months ago when I
stopped frequenting this board. And to have 278 and 299.....then get
to 569 in a couple of lousy days? I should have known he wasn't
actually doing any of his own work.
Yes, I am angry. So now I
enter into yet another debate on this board. First there was Snap
vs. MasterShay, then Ahylis vs. Snap and now Nathan vs. Stein. All I
ask is that people learn from videos. Not copy them.
That's crap. Total crap.
Posted by Ahlyis - 9/24/2002 10:21:55 AM
Well, it's a matter of opinion I guess. I agree
that it shows a lot more effort, patience and perseverance to do it
all or nearly all on your own. And if you are simply copying someone
else's pattern, you should admit it wholeheartedly, giving credit
where credit is due. Stein has done so.
For me personally,
the sense of achievement is much higher when I accomplish something
on my own compared to if I just copied someone else, but that's my
opinion and not necessarily someone else's.
The high score
board doesn't distinguish. You can't take off points based on how
original a run was. The high scores are simply the high
scores.
I have no problem with Stein's scores being up there
next to mine. He DID get a perfect on FT. If I didn't want anyone to
copy my strat, either in whole or in part, then I wouldn't have
released it to the public.

I just picked up a Gamecube on Friday along with
several games and this game has got to be the biggest surprise out
of the lot. Making my way through the main game albeit at an
extremely slow pace but having accessed the Challenge Mode I thought
I'd give it a shot. I've got to say, much respect for everyone that
has put the time and effort in on this mode to achieve high scores.
Very impressed indeed. :)
I'm giving full concentration to
increasing my pikmin count on Impact Site and... forget 278s and
such.. I was well chuffed that I made an increase of 5 pikmin from
my previous attempt to a grand total now of... 130. :D Heheh.
Anyways, just thought I'd drop in and say hello and let you
all know how much I've enjoyed following this thread since I came
across the board.
Posted by SuperStein - 9/24/2002 10:38:48 AM
I'm sorry if you feel that way Nathan,
I
always alter the strategy (I know you said that I shouldn't say it
though) , but believe me i give FULL credit to the one who came up
with it. No doubt in that, if you want take me off the board! I wont
have a problem with that. And the reason why you didn't know is that
I only got the game 3 months ago, and didn't play it that much
before I saw this place.
And here's another tip, give me an
asterisk next to my score, proving that I DID NOT receive the score
by myself. Just copying and altering someone elses so it would fit
my playing. I won't have a problem with that.
I'm sorry about
all this, and pleas don't make an arguement because of this. I know
what I've done. And you know, and I give credit. So put the asterisk
there and we'll leave it to that.
Posted by Nathan Ian Bowers - 9/24/2002 10:52:55 AM
Stein, I apologize. Ahylis is right, the high
score list does not concern itself with philosophical details. The
problem is really not with you, it is with me. I think it's just
insecurity....it shows up in rather everything I do. If I could just
be happy with myself then I wouldn't have to criticize
others.
And after all, the point is really that we are a
bunch of people who have given such a rinky-dink-looking game like
Pikmin a chance and found out how much immense fun it is whereas
most people passed it right up for a football or fightin game. It
should be a tight-knit group here, not a group where several members
try to establish a hierarchy.
I acted out of pride. And
perhaps some jealousy. But I doubt the latter because I am very
confident in my Pikmin abilities and know I will climb the hill soon
enough.
You're also right that you've given credit where
credit is due. You've never concealed anything.
So there's
no need to give you an asterisk....but maybe I should get one or two
for composing such an ill-conceived post.
Anyway, back to
the game.

Right, good to know.
Yes, happy gaming
then.

Mikepharvey - i do get CUBE mag sometimes - i'll
get the next issue - you should have sent it [your IS tape] in to
NOM mag. The highest score on IS for ANY person sending in was 214 -
and is the winner by about 20 pikmin. What a joke...

Now
for some notes.
Nathan, if it had just been 405 on FN, I
wouldn't have put an asterisk, but for a 442 and a tie for the top
spot, I think we have to be fair to those who haven't been here and
don't know you.
Rouge7, do you prefer we post the scores as
Rogue7 instead? They had been mixed, but I put them all as Rouge7
for now.
For Impact Site, I think we need to keep ALL scores
that are 264 or higher once we reach that point. Since 264 is a
'perfect' run minus the Flint Beetle, anyone who achieves it should
have their score remembered. That's my opinion anyway. anyone else
wish to comment? And no, I don't say that simply because I have 264
right now. I fully expect to get to 273 or 278
eventually.

filled already! Pretty good for a game that is hardly new anymore

Ahlyis: agree on the 264 thang in Impact
Site.
Another thing I was wondering about a little was now
that the high scores are getting crowded with lots of ties, is
whether "average high score" might have any place. For example, on
IS, my 5 scores are 278, 277, 276, 276, 273, an average of 276. I
wonder how that compares to other folks.
Not quite sure
myself how/whether such a thing would be usable, just a
thought.

I agree Ahlyis, 264 is impressive. The IS Top 15
is overshadowed by 278s and 273s!
I almost set I new record
on Forest Navel. Still my home cooked strat though. I figured out
that I need to know the level more if I'll ever move on to the
fantastiv 442 strat... thanks for it btw :P
Well... my score
was 318, but the pearl, a 10 and a couple of 1's didn't make it in
time!
But I have an idea. What if i chuck 100 hundred pikmin
OVER the wall to the bridge to the pearl use the jet, go get the
Blue 20, Blue 10, Yellow 10, Red 20 and leave some yellows by the
bridge, then I'll have 30-35 left (depending on how many yellows I
leave at the bridge), then I can go and clear the Puffstool area,
with my remaining ones! But then again, that can't be good enough
for the perfect-o. Cus I need to get the 1'blue in the water there,
but I could get that one earlier in the day. Ehh.. need more
thinking, but after my opinion rouge has come up with one pretty
nifty strat for this level.. tricky indeed.
Nice of you to
update the Top 15s Ahlyis, thanks ;-)
I think I'll need to
play more pikmin soon, it's such a cool, innovative game. HAHA! to
those who just ignored it in the store!
But now... second
half of Manchester United-Bayer Leverkrusen in Champions
League!
Then, sleeeeeeep *yawn*
Yes, I forgot, my
Distant Spring score is actually 386, I found that out when I looked
at my FoH confirming pic, take a look yourself, I've never gotten a
382! LOL, that puts my a couple of spots up the latter!
And
TomatoMan:
Nice idea, that would surely do things interesting,
first to get 5 278'ers! LOL! Then I would have to get 5 299's and 5
569's too! LOL! Hard indeed! My scores for IS is, 278, 273, 272, 271
and 264. Average: 271,6
Peculiar, I only played Impact Site 4
times after my first 264, funny indeed. Well I played it more than
that, but that breadbug gave away to of the same kind pellets! But I
was lucky when I got my 278 on my first try after the 273!
Posted by Ice Man - 9/24/2002 2:51:24 PM
FoH
449
Posted by Ahlyis - 9/24/2002 3:20:22 PM
I was thinking of leaving the other levels
alone, but modifying the way we list IS. The posts are nearly at the
size limit already.
I was thinking of doing Impact Site
something like this in the future:
Impact Site:
278
(TomatoMan, SuperStein, cocoapuffs999, *Mikepharvey)
273
(Snapdragon, Nathan Ian Bowers, Jimithingr, Ferret5317, Cork)
264
(Rouge7, Ahlyis)
Other Top scores:
13. 258 (Xel23)
14. 253
(jakemrjr)
15. 246 (Lewellyn)
We could drop the other top
scores once we have at least 15 at 264 or
above.
Comments?
