June 10, 2016: As a point of pride, tomatoman.net will continue ... as a plain-text, hand-maintaned HTML site (and did anybody notice the groovy SSL and green lock, courtesy of LetsEncrypt?). The D2 Rune Tool works again, now that it's back on my own server. Rackspace disabled cgi years ago, but I'm keeping it going.

It is only fitting to note that I did just recently reinstall D2. Blizzard saw fit to make a version that runs on OSX and Windows 10, so I feel duty-bound to resurrect tomatoman.net. 10 years since the last update? It still works.

January 8, 2006: I'm still hooked on D2. Not much else is new. I'm not proud. Being in the tiny minority of players who don't cheat, or use (or trade for) duped or hacked items, I'm still kind of sucky. Anyway, curse Blizzard for perfecting the dungeon crawl.

August 19, 2005: The seven new runewords released by Blizzard for the 1.11 patch are in; supposedly there are three more, yet to be discovered.

Also slightly changed the way runes are "weighted" to sort by difficulty; the order of the rune (el = 1, zod = 33) is now cubed rather than squared when doing the calculation, because Rain (which uses Mal) should be harder to make than Enlightnment (which uses Pul). Squaring the values made Enlightenment harder, cubing them made Rain harder. Bone is still the hardest of the new runewords, requiring two Ums, but this is weighted heavier than Principle, which uses one Gul. I'm not sure this should be correct; if anybody has better weighting ideas, I'm all ears.

December 16, 2004: The new runewords detail is complete, and some corrections were taken from the Arreat Summit. See the D2 news page for details.

December 10, 2004: BREAKING NEWS: Blizzard has announced the 23 new ladder-only runewords. As of right now, only one has any detail about what it does. We will be filling in the detail on them as we learn about them; we will only take data from the Arreat Summit runeword page as a legitimite source.

Full news on the D2 news page.

August 2, 2004: Peasant Quest released!

July 19, 2004: Breaking Trogdor news! Peasant Quest announced!

June 29, 2004: Ahhh, Cheating at Pikmin. The Distant Spring 713 screenshot and backstory are here.

June 12, 2004: (D2 section:) Added the four new 1.10 realms-only runewords Duress, Prudence, Splendor and Wind, and fixed a minor bug where the "category" search order wasn't working.

May 18, 2004: Added a note and link to Radix37's archive of the Pimkin 9-Day, 0-Death Challenge videos. Wo0t!

May 11, 2004: Added a page for the Pimkin 9-Day, 0-Death Challenge DVD.

February 17, 2004: Added a "Cheat" item to the Advanced Strategy page of the Trogdor section with a tip from reader Jason.

February 10, 2004: I'm done with the D2 Rune Tool. Made some minor text changes, changed the method from "post" to "get" so results could be bookmarked, and wrote some kickass documentation. Why, I don't know. But I'm stopping now.

February 3, 2004: I have GOT to stop this. More tweaks to the D2 Rune Tool. Changes this time:

February 2, 2004: Hopefully I'm about done with the D2 Rune Tool. Version 0.5 was nearly a complete rewrite (well, sort of), with the following changes:

Why did I spend so much time on this? Barring cosmetic tweaks, I think the functionality of this is now complete and it can be put to bed, so to speak.

January 30, 2004: Added preliminary (and maybe finished) support for Crafted Item recipes in the D2 Rune Tool.

January 29, 2004: Yet more tweaks to the D2 Rune Tool - added a "clear runes" button and a checkbox to force checking the common runes, to save some braincells and mousie clicks.

January 29, 2004: Minor interface tweak: mouseover/title text for top-level icons, and current section is active and selectable as well.

January 23, 2004: More tweaks to the D2 Rune Tool. Somebody stop me.

January 22, 2004: Added preliminary regex support to the Rune Tool. This is so useful it makes me wish there were more runewords to search.

January 19, 2004: The D2 section has been added. It was only a matter of time. Also added a positional indicator to the right-side navbar because it was stupid to not have one.

September 28, 2003: The fifth Challenge Mode GameFAQs topic has been completed and archived in the Pikmin section. Thanks to DistantSpring54 for grabbing the pages before they were purged!

August 04, 2003: Added Jim Wood's section on the Mystery Cottages to the Advanced Stragegy page of the Trogdor section.

April 19, 2003: Replaced my broken, incomplete Pikmin GameFAQs Archives with complete ones from RockMFR 5, and also added a browseable archive. It was hard.

April 16, 2003: Added Stein's DVD cover images to the Pikmin DVD page. Thanks Stein!

April 04, 2003: The Quake section got its tmdm01 and nohealth mod pages, astoundingly brilliant creations of mine.

April 03, 2003: Trogdor section added! The Trodgor comes in the NIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!

April 03, 2003: Also moved the secondary navigation over to the right. I think it looks better. IE5/mac is still broken with floating DIVs as far as I know. Anybody know how to fix that? My code is valid wicked-strict, so it's Microsoft's problem, but I'll fix it if I can do it without breaking the validation.

March 30, 2003: We continue to flesh things out following launch.
